During the afternoon of 3 Oct '44 while proceeding on duty delivering supplies to "B" Troop, 2nd Canadian Survey Regiment, RCA the vehicle in which D/10539 BQMS Watson, F.C. was riding came under heavy enemy Machine Gun fire. From information obtained from G/51501 Lance Sergeant Fulton, W.D. who escaped slightly wounded, it is believed that BQMS Watson was killed almost instantly by bullet wounds in the head but his body has not been recovered. The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire and as a thorough search has been revealed no personal effects they are presumed to have been in the vehicle.
